What's On in Street and Glastonbury is brought to you by our sponsors Strode College, Wookey Hole, Glastonbury Abbey, Studio24 in Wells and Melhuish and Saunders.

It's the Easter school holidays, which means Somerset's gone full sugar-rush — egg hunts in every corner, dragons gearing up for battle, and at least one place offering a glass of wine while your kids try to solve a puzzle involving a bunny and a clue trail.

Whether you're dragging the family around a vineyard for chocolate, heading to a cave for circus shows, or just here for a nostalgic night out, there's plenty happening across Shepton Mallet, Glastonbury, Wells and Street.

If you're up for a bit of big noise and big feelings, Toploader are bringing their 25th anniversary tour to Studio 24 in Wells. It's the full Onka's Big Moka nostalgia trip, complete with Dancing in the Moonlight and a room full of people who still know all the words. Doors at 7.30pm, tickets are moving quickly.

Also on Saturday, Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers will be pounding out rhythms at The Brewhouse in Taunton. Their 30th anniversary show promises a full-on theatrical experience — equal parts energy, atmosphere and athleticism.

Back in Shepton, Solène Weinachter brings After All to Croscombe Village Hall. It's dance, it's theatre, it's comedy about funerals — and somehow, it works. Described as surprisingly life-affirming, the performance explores grief, death and the ways we process loss, with grace and a touch of gallows humour.

More into noise of a different kind? 2nd2None Driving School is back at the Bath & West Showground, letting under-17s get behind the wheel (on a closed course, don't panic), and offering HGV taster sessions for the over-17s. Perfect if your teenager wants to try driving — or you fancy the novelty of steering a lorry for a laugh.

And yes, The Big Southwest Wedding Fair also kicks off Saturday and runs through Sunday. Catwalk shows, planning panic, free fizz, and 80+ suppliers. You don't even have to be getting married to enjoy it, really.

Shepton Mallet Prison is running an egg hunt with a twist — solve clues around the old jailhouse to win your chocolate (and, presumably, your freedom).

Radstock Museum is offering a gentler trail throughout the holidays, included with admission and ending in a small prize.

Wells Bishop's Palace has 14 acres of gardens to roam and a spring-themed trail with falconry events and crafts sprinkled in. Meanwhile, Wookey Hole has gone full fantasy with stilt walkers, a 4D cinema, fairy trails, live circus shows and adventure golf — all running until 21 April.

Somerset Rural Life Museum in Glastonbury also launches its holiday programme on Saturday, with crafts, bonnet decorating, donkeys, and other family-friendly distractions.

Looking ahead…

Next week brings Easter crafts at Wells Cathedral — free drop-in sessions on 7, 9 and 11 April, 10.30am–3.30pm.

On Saturday 13 April, Wraxall Vineyard is putting on a family Easter trail with chocolate prizes for the kids and an open wine bar for the adults. Thoughtful.

Closer to Easter weekend, Collett Park's egg hunt in Shepton on 19 April promises free fun, animal petting, and a bonnet parade with prizes.

And in case you missed it, Glastonbury Wedding & Events Venue is hosting a bunny-themed Easter trail too, complete with a miniature train, fluffy animals, and plenty of sugar. Tickets are £8 and must be booked in advance.

Film and theatre fans, take note - Wells Film Centre has a stacked Easter line-up including A Minecraft Movie, Snow White, Dog Man, Mr Burton, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, and Six the Musical Live! (yes, the Queens are back — this time on the big screen), with tickets priced at just £5.

Strode Theatre in Street is also packed with options, including Shrek the Musical (on stage), Six the Musical (on screen) and Dog Man.

It's not technically Easter, but Glastonbury Dragons May Fayre is coming up fast on 4 May. Red dragon vs white dragon, live music, a procession, and lots of people in robes wielding banners. It's very Glastonbury, in the best way. If you're into folklore, family chaos and a good excuse for a drum circle, mark your calendar.

Planning ahead, Wells Cathedral warmly invites everyone to participate in its Holy Week and Easter services, offering a time for reflection and celebration. The schedule includes the Passiontide Meditation on Palm Sunday, Choral Evensong with addresses during the week, the Solemn Eucharist of the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday, and culminates with the Festal Eucharist and Evensong on Easter Sunday. You can find church services from all areas here.

So, whether you're in it for the eggs, the engines, or the indie anthems, this weekend's looking full. Just don't forget to book ahead — and maybe leave room for a little chocolate. It is Easter, after all.
