The past is back with a bang – and it's louder, funnier, and more revolting than ever.

Horrible Histories: Gorgeous Georgians & Vile Victorians is storming the stage at Glastonbury Abbey this summer, bringing history's most outrageous characters to life for one gloriously gruesome night only.

The hit live show, based on the best-selling books and TV series, rolls into town on Thursday 24 July 2025, taking over the Abbey's main stage with its signature blend of slapstick, songs, and stuff they never taught you in school.

Expect crime, grime and dodgy rhymes as audiences are taken on a whirlwind tour through Georgian and Victorian Britain. Will you swing with a scandalous monarch, stand trial with Dick Turpin, or survive the horrors of a baby farmer? Possibly. Will Florence Nightingale save the day? Hopefully. Will someone definitely lose their head? Almost certainly.

Organisers say: "Don't miss this horrible history of Britain – with the nasty bits left in!"

Doors open at 6.30pm, with the show kicking off at 7pm. The evening also includes all the essentials for a family night out, with popcorn, candyfloss, a bar and café on site.

Tickets are cheaper online – £20 for adults and £15 for children (ages 5–15). Standard prices (in the shop or on the gate) are £22 for adults. Kids under four go free, as long as you don't mind explaining what a baby farmer is on the way home.

As with all outdoor shows at the Abbey, bring your own chair or blanket – and maybe a raincoat, just in case.
