Road Traffic Collision at Burtle Road, Westhay, Glastonbuty

Date: 25.10.2019Time: 15:30Location: Burtle Road, Westhay, GlastonbutyThe Fire Service were called to a report of a lorry on its side with a person trapped inside the vehicle.  One fire engine and a rescue tender from Glastonbury, a fire engine from Street attended and a supporting officer attended this incident.  On arrival crews confirmed one heavy goods vehicle on its side in a ditch with the driver still in the cab and being assessed by paramedics.  Plans were put in place to establish the best way to release the casualty and to stabilise the vehicle.  One male casualty removed from overturned articulated lorry by using a platform and cutting away the front windscreen.  Casualty conveyed to hospital by ambulance.
