Riders In The Sky ride-out and fun day in Glastonbury set to return to raise air ambulance funds
A popular motorbike ride-out and fun day in Glastonbury, that is held in memory of a dedicated charity supporter, will return this year.
Riders In The Sky (RITS) was not held in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but it will be back with a bang in August.
The event this year will take place on August 29 at Tor Leisure in Glastonbury with the ride-out at 10am followed by a family fun day.
In 2019 more than 400 bikes took part in the ride-out and the organisers are hoping for lots more for 2021.
A spokesperson for the event said: "RITS was formed after Lee Baker was killed on November 8 2010.
"He was a good friend, brother son and father. Lee was also a dedicated charity supporter doing many different ventures to raise money, from sky dives to naked calendars.
"After his death we wanted to organise an event in memory of him and do something he would of loved.
"One of Lee's great loves was motorcycles and this was how many of the group had met him, so we decided we wanted to do a motorcycle ride-out around some of his favourite roads.
"However, Lee had such a varied group of friends from all walks of life, so turning the afternoon into a family fun day gave the opportunity to all who knew him to get together and enjoy the day.
"When deciding on a charity to support, we chose the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance largely because we think they play a very important part in the rural area we ride and live in, saving vital time in the most serious of cases.
"Over the years, we have raised more than £81,000 for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, and we are looking forward to adding to that this year."
The organisers are asking for anyone who would like a pitch at the fun day to contact them on 07928 579176 and they are also in need of entertainers and kids entertainment.
