The sun shone in Shepton Mallet over the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend, as record crowds flocked to the Bath & West Showground for the Royal Bath & West Show.

Over 100,000 visitors attended over the three days of the show with the warm weather, numerous attractions and long bank holiday making it an event to remember.

This was the first Royal Bath & West Show since 2019, and visitors commented that they were delighted to see its return after a pandemic-enforced absence. Those attending the show were able to enjoy another chance to see the hugely popular Paul Hannam Stunt Show, Pawsability Dog Agility Display and Lakeside Farm; alongside regular attractions such as equestrian events, livestock, and the food and drink tent.  The Bath & West train was also busy all weekend, with passengers of all ages enjoying the fun – even Cookie the miniature pony had a ride.

The Great British Kitchen made its debut this year and proved very popular, with celebrity chefs Dean Edwards, Briony May Williams and 'Yorkshire Shepherdess' Amanda Owen doing cooking demonstrations throughout the show. Amanda also showed her adventurous nature by joining in with the Paul Hannam Stunt Show on Saturday, riding on the back of a quad bike.

Jess Chiplen, Acting Head of Shows, said "We are delighted that after a long absence, the ever-popular Royal Bath & West Show has made its return. The long weekend in honour of HM The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, and beautiful weather (at least for most of the time!), certainly helped make it a show to remember, and we can't wait to start planning for 2023."
