Property Fire at Sub Road, Butleigh Wootton, Street

Date: 13.04.2019Time: 15:25Location: Sub Road, Butleigh Wootton, StreetFire appliances from Glastonbury, Street and Somerton were sent to a fire in a domestic farmhouse. Crews arrived on scene and confirmed a fire on the ground floor. Crews got to work using 2 breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet. A request was made for all available personnel at Glastonbury Fire Station to proceed to the incident in the 4x4 vehicle.

Crews confirmed all persons accounted for at the incident, but with one male and one female with burns and smoke inhalation. Ambulance were requested to attend. BA sets were increased to 4 wearers.

At 16:30 a request was made for the incident support unit from Yeovil, for breathing apparatus support.

Crews put the fire out using two hose reel jets, and checked for hotspots using a thermal imaging camera. The cause of the fire was deemed as accidental following investigations. The property was severely damaged.

One male was taken to hospital via ambulance with superficial burns to hand and a minor head injury.
