Plans to convert Glastonbury town centre flats into one maisonette are approved

Plans to convert three flats on the upper floors of a prominent building in Glastonbury Market Place into one maisonette have been given the green light by Mendip District Council.

The planning application for the conversion of upper floors from three flats to one dwelling, with changes to internal layout at First Floor Flat, 16 Market Place, Glastonbury, had been made by Andrew Carrier.

The proposal is to convert the upper floors above Heaphy's into one maisonette, which will have two bedrooms.

The building is listed, but nothing remains internally in terms of historic details, following a fire at the site in 2002.

Following the fire, the upper floors were configured into three one-bedroom flats, though these can now be adapted to become one home following the Mendip approval.

One planning application for Glastonbury was submitted to Mendip District Council this week:

Works to a tree in a Conservation Area T1 - Monkey Puzzle: carry out a formative reduction of around 3m in height and 0.5m in lateral spread have been applied for at Woodland Villa, 19 Wells Road, Glastonbury.

Planning applications in the Glastonbury area that have been decided this week by Mendip District Council include:

Use of land for stationing mobile home for occupation by agricultural worker at Willow Bank Farm, Fosse Way, Lydford-on-Fosse, by Mr and Mrs W Cobden has been approved.

Application to vary conditions 2 (drawing list) and 4 (parking) of planning approval 2015/3061/FUL to amend parking on land next to 61 Hillhead, Glastonbury, by Mr Ian Scriven has been approved.

Erection of agricultural building for storage of fodder and machinery at Coombe Farm, Parbrook Lane, Parbrook, by Mr T Allen has been approved.

Erection of garage with ancillary accommodation above at Woodlands House, Havyatt, by Mrs Leticia Tayco has been approved.

Application to vary condition 1 (drawings) and condition 10 (hard and soft landscaping, pre-Occupation) of planning approval 2020/0387/REM for the erection of 14 dwellings and associated access, matters of appearance/landscaping/layout/scale to be determined on a site east of Toy Farm, Castle Cary Road, Lydford-on-Fosse, by Mr and Mrs S Barnes has been approved.
