A planning application has been submitted to Mendip District Council for a modern contemporary house to be built in West Pennard.

The building of a single-storey house and associated works on land adjacent to Lippeatts, in Newtown Lane, West Pennard, has been applied for by John Heaton.

There is already planning permission on the site for a two-storey house to be built, but now a new application has been submitted to create a modern contemporary single-storey home there instead.

Baltonsborough's Orme Architects have created the design, and they say this design will be less imposing in height that the previous plans and less visible from the street.

Other planning applications submitted in the Glastonbury area to Mendip District Council this week include:

Application for approval of details reserved by conditions 4 (sewage treatment drainage system), on planning consent/listed building consent 2019/2783/VRC at Newmeads Farm, Wick Lane, Wick, has been made by Mr and Mrs Graham White.

Application for outline planning permission with some matters reserved for erection of a dwellinghouse with details of access, parking and turning at Haycroft, Havyatt, has been made by Mr and Mrs A Wills.

Proposed first floor extension to single-storey dwelling, including single and two-storey rear extensions, and oak framed entrance porch to front elevation at Kelston, 13 Glastonbury Road, Meare, has been applied for by Mr and Mrs T Foster.

Planning applications in the Glastonbury area decided by Mendip District Council this week include:

Replacement of roof and frames to rear conservatory at 14 Hill Head, Glastonbury, by Mr D Newton has been approved.

Change of use of land to form an extension to the garden at Batch Brooke, Muchelney Road, Baltonsborough, by Mr and Mrs Purcell and Mrs Williams has been approved.
