Plans have been submitted to Mendip District Council for a new farm shop and cafe to be built in a hamlet on the edge of Glastonbury.

A planning application for the building of a farm shop and cafe with associated kitchen, store and toilets at Middlewick Farm, Wick Lane, Wick, has been submitted by Mr and Mrs Barker.

Middlewick Farm already has a small farm shop with takeaway cafe at the site, along with 25 holiday rooms, function room and indoor swimming pool.

However, this farm shop will be larger and include a sit-down cafe with views across the countryside, and will be open to the general public.

Middlewick Farm has a focus on sustainability, with a biomass boiler and electric car charging points already installed, and the new farm shop would have solar panels on the roof and full-height windows to maximise natural light and minimise the need for artificial lighting.
