Plans have been submitted for a rural worker's home to be built at a growing fruit and vegetable business in Godney.

The planning application for the building of a rural worker's dwelling and polytunnel at Myrtle Barn, Lower Godney, has been submitted to Mendip District Council by Melvyn Yeandle and Sally Mills of Godney Aquaponics.

The proposal is to build a modest sized cabin to house a full-time worker at the business that has been running since 2017 and has now grown to a size where an extra employee is needed.

The dwelling is required to allow the full-time employee to be readily available at all times, as is required for the successful running of the business and to deal with emergencies, to assist with the harvest, packaging and other out of hours tasks along with the providing security and protection of the produce, machinery, commodities and animals against trespass, theft and vandalism.

The other planning application in the Glastonbury area that has been submitted this week to Mendip District Council is:

Proposed works to tree/s in a Conservation Area: T1 (Plum/Cherry) - Fell at 2 - 4 High Street, Glastonbury, are wanted by Mike Jones.
