Millfield's rising pentathlon stars have triumphantly earned their spots to represent Great Britain in the upcoming European Championships for Biathle, Triathle, and Laser Run events.

The Championship battles are scheduled to unfurl in Erding, Germany from 28 June to 2 July.

The gate to the Biathle European Championship was firmly flung open for Lower Sixth student Gerard McGrady and Year 10's Tom Webb. Their tickets were punched at the European Qualifier held at Sandford Parks Lido, Cheltenham, on the memorable day of 16 April.

Not settling with just one event, Gerard McGrady is also set to take part in the Triathle competition. He will share this stage with fellow Millfield student, Year 11's Zac Cooper. Despite being just 16, Gerard finds himself in the unique position of being one of three boys representing Great Britain U19 in both Biathle and Triathle events.

But the Millfield Prep School was not to be outdone, sending a strong battalion of pupils to the Cheltenham qualifiers. Among the victorious were Year 8 Ruby Bodman, Year 7 Lois Murray, Eva Dowden, Year 6 Polly Warman, Elsie Seager, Kruze Frampton, and Year 5 Raffie Bodman, all of whom qualified for the Biathle European Championships.

The Prep School pupils also made their mark at the European Qualifying event in Leweston, Dorset, earning their places in the European Triathle Championships. Meanwhile, Ruby Bodman, Lois Murray, Eva Dowden, Raffie Bodman and Year 3 Ethan Jory also clinched their spots to compete in the European Laser Run Championships at the same German venue. Meanwhile, Year 8 Hope Lewis will fly the flag for Ireland in the same competition.

Millfield's Head of Modern Pentathlon, Antonia Cord, shared her pride, "I am so proud of all the athletes that have qualified for the competitions; they have all worked so hard and the hard work has been rewarded. I wish them all the very best of luck and they deserve every success."

A regular participant in regional and national competitions across various sporting disciplines, Millfield Modern Pentathlon nurtures close relationships with Regional Talent and Athlete Development Programmes. This has seen Millfield students frequently selected for inclusion. Among Millfield alumni are former Olympian and Pentathlon GB Team Leader Dominic Mahoney and Arthur Lanigan O'Keeffe, an Irish Olympian and European Champion.
