A mobile phone operator will become the next brand to leave the High Street in Street.

The O₂ shop has announced that it will be permanently closing the doors to its store next week.

O2 is the UK's largest mobile network operator, with 31.3 million subscribers as of September 2021.

A sign on the shop door thanks people for their "custom over the years" as it prepares to close permanently on December 7. However, it will maintain shops in Bridgwater and Yeovil.

An O2 spokesperson said: "We can confirm that our branch in Street is set to close on 7 December. We will continue to serve Somerset residents through our stores in Bridgwater, Yeovil, Taunton and Weston Super Mare."
