Students at Millfield School are celebrating after receiving their A level and BTEC results this week.

The school reported that its top 100 students achieved 62% A*–A grades, while the full Upper Sixth cohort of 286 students attained 60% A*–B grades. BTEC results were similarly strong, with 79% awarded at Distinction* or Distinction level.

Among the highest achievers was Matthew McLachlan, a day student from Glastonbury, who earned four A* grades in Economics, Maths, Further Maths and Physics. He will go on to study Economics at UCL. Connie Cox, from Taunton, was named the top performer nationally in OCR's Physical Education A level. She achieved A* grades in PE, Psychology and Biology and will attend Durham University to study Natural Sciences.

Tansy Fowler, from Bridgwater, secured a choral scholarship to Oriel College, Oxford, and will read Music after achieving AAA. Tansy has been a regular contributor to the school's performing arts and leadership roles. Obie Hansell, a boarder from Suffolk, achieved AAA and is heading to Exeter College, Oxford, to study Chemistry.

Also progressing to Oxford is Olivia O'Brien from Berkshire, who will read Economics and Management at Pembroke College after receiving AAAA. She is the school's riding captain and has taken part in its Oxbridge programme. Other notable results include Ella Osborne (AAA*) from Teignmouth, who participated in trampolining, water polo and CCF; and Kieran Campbell from Street, who achieved AAA A and will study Maths at UCL.

Students heading to creative courses include Ella Foreman, who earned an A* in Photography and Distinctions in BTEC Sport, and Luella Price, who achieved DDD in BTEC Art and Design and will study Performance Costume at Edinburgh University.

Several international students also recorded strong outcomes. Carolyn Lee from Taipei, Taiwan, achieved AAA and will study Chemistry at Warwick, while Ruby Kollek from Bangalore, India, earned AAA and is bound for Leeds to read International Business and Finance. Ruhan Talwar from Jaipur, India, received DDD in BTEC Art and Design and will pursue Fashion Design.

Annabel Chan, originally from Hong Kong, achieved AAA*B and will attend Imperial College London to study Economics, Finance and Data Science. She has also competed at national level in swimming and taken part in a range of academic and musical activities.

In addition, 15 students achieved an average grade above an A across three or four A level subjects, and a further 27 students averaged an A grade across their full subject set.

Headmaster Gavin Horgan said: "This is an exceptional set of grades, with the majority of Millfield students dedicating themselves to their academic studies whilst also following their passions in sport and the arts… I wish all of our students every success in their future paths and look forward to welcoming them back to Millfield in the future."
