The Middlewick, a converted farm at the base of Glastonbury Tor, has been announced as a finalist in three categories at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards, making it the only Somerset contender to achieve this distinction.

The nominations recognise the site's achievements in the categories of Cafe/Tearoom of the Year, Dog Friendly Business of the Year, and Ethical, Responsible, and Sustainable Tourism Award.

Transitioning from a working farm to a holiday haven in the 1980s, The Middlewick now features a diverse range of accommodations and amenities, including holiday cottages, wooden cabins, glamping pods, as well as a farm shop, café, spa, swimming pool, yoga facility, and events space.

This evolution from farm to holiday destination underscores the site's unique offering to tourists seeking varied experiences.

In a social media post, the proprietors said: "Wowser! I am doing a little happy dance. Wish us all luck as we are up again some pretty amazing businesses in the final!"

The winners of the awards will be unveiled at a ceremony set to take place in the Great Hall at Exeter University on March 14, coinciding with the 13th anniversary of the current owners' acquisition of The Middlewick.
