McColl's stores in Glastonbury and Street NOT among the stores listed for closure
The McColl's stores in Glastonbury and Street are not among those earmarked to close following news that the company is closing 132 stores with the threat of 1,300 job losses.
The stores were all taken over by Morrisons earlier this year to save the chain from collapsing.
Since then, 286 of them have already been transformed into Morrisons Daily shops with plans for the rest to now be converted.
But as part of the re-structuring the company announced that over 130 'loss-making' stores were closing.
Out of the stores that will close, 55 have a Post Office counter and Morrisons said it would will delay the closure of these until next year to let them serve local communities during Christmas "and to allow the Post Office additional time to make alternative arrangements".
Joseph Sutton, the director of Morrisons wholesale, told the BBC said: "We very much regret the proposed closure of 132 loss-making stores but it is, very sadly, an important step towards the regeneration of the business."
The company currently has over 1,100 stores across the UK.
