Man charged with eight offences after incidents

A man has been charged with eight offences following a series of incidents in Bridgwater and Street, police have confirmed.
Leslie Roper, 46, of no fixed abode but with links to Glastonbury, appeared at Taunton Magistrates' Court on Friday, 27 February.
Avon and Somerset Police said the charges relate to incidents reported on Wednesday, 25 February.
Roper has since been remanded in custody and is due to return to Taunton Magistrates' Court for trial on Friday, 17 April.
He has been charged with:
- Assault by beating of an emergency worker
- Dangerous driving
- Driving a motor vehicle after revocation of a driving licence
- Making off without payment
- Using a motor vehicle without third party insurance
- Failure to provide a specimen for analysis
- Failing to report a collision
- Failing to stop when required by a police officer
Police also confirmed a second man has been charged in connection with one of the incidents.
Wayne Shortland, 41, of Buckland Close, Glastonbury, has been jointly charged with making off without payment following an incident in Street on the same date.
He has been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.
