If you tuned into ITV's 'Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream' last Sunday, you may have recognised a familiar local face.

Tobias 'Toby' Turley, who trained at The South West School of Dance in Street and graduated from Guilford School of Acting back in 2021. is competing on the new talent show that aims to discover the next stars for the West End production of Mamma Mia!

MAMMA MIA! I Have a Dream is searching for two ingénues to play the roles of Sophie and Sky in Mamma Mia! in London's West End. Throughout the series, musical theatre hopefuls will be put through their paces as they navigate their way through challenges, masterclasses, and performances.

Filmed against the beautiful backdrop of the Greek islands, where the original Mamma Mia! story is set, the contestants are mentored by guest industry stars through unique workshops and judged by a panel of well-known industry experts in both music and theatre.

The competition will culminate in a live, dazzling grand-finale, broadcast from a theatre in London's West End, where two winners will take it all and win the roles of Sophie and Sky in the musical.

While he has already earned accolades for his performances in international shows like West Side Story in Ljubljana and Heathers the Musical, 22-year-old Toby is no stranger to the local stage either. He has appeared in several local productions, including roles in 'Dick Whittington' at the Octagon in Yeovil, 'Big Top' and 'Jack and the Beanstalk' both at Strode Theatre.

The show, which kicked off on 22nd October and is hosted by Zoe Ball, features a panel of esteemed judges such as Samantha Barks, Alan Carr, Amber Riley, and Jessie Ware. With one episode already aired, the competition is heating up and the community in Street and Glastonbury is buzzing with support for Toby.

As the show progresses, Toby is in the spotlight, competing for a role that could elevate his career to West End stardom.

Given his rich history on both the local and international stage, he's certainly one to watch.
