Local hearing care practice appoints new Clinical Scientist Audiologist

A leading provider of private hearing care in Somerset and West Wiltshire, has announced the appointment on a Clinical Scientist Audiologist who brings with her extensive NHS and private sector experience, as part of the company's ongoing expansion.
South West Hearing Care, which operates clinics in Street, Westbury and Somerton, welcomed Cathy Cass RHAD MSc to the team in early July.
At a time when many audiology services, particularly NHS clinics, are facing cuts, delays and staffing shortages, South West Hearing Care is bucking the national trend by investing in its people, technology and local presence.
Director and Lead Audiologist Simon Swindells was thrilled to announce the appointment:
"Cathy brings exceptional clinical skills and a compassionate, clear approach that our clients will really value. Her appointment reflects our belief that local, independent hearing care has never been more important. This appointment underlines our commitment to delivering advanced, ethical and personalised hearing care in the community."
Cathy, who will be primarily based at the Westbury clinic, supporting the company's growing number of clients across the region said:
"Joining the independent sector has allowed me to work in a more personalised way with patients," Cathy said. "Hearing loss affects far more than just the ears, it has a huge impact on wellbeing, relationships and quality of life. South West Hearing Care gives me the time and clinical freedom to deliver truly patient-centred care."
Cathy holds a Master's in Audiology from the University of Southampton and an MSc in Clinical Neurosensory Science from Aston University. After retraining in audiology in 2018, she joined the NHS and completed the prestigious Clinical Scientist training programme, gaining specialist experience in complex hearing loss, dementia care, paediatrics and balance assessments.
Her clinical interests include the connection between hearing and cognition, and the importance of early intervention to preserve communication, independence and brain health.
