Lloyds Bank has confirmed that there are no plans to close the branch in Street, despite rampant rumours on social media.

A spokesperson for Lloyds Bank stated, "As more customers choose to manage their day-to-day banking online, it's important our people are available when and where it matters most. The Street branch is open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday between 9am and 5pm. Customers can also bank with us through our mobile app or online 24/7 and can use the local Post Office or alternative branches."

The bank has recently adjusted the opening hours of the Street branch, which is now closed on Thursdays.

This change is part of a broader strategy to adapt to the evolving banking habits of customers.

"We've tested ways of working in some of our branches and, as more customers now choose to do their everyday banking in different ways, we are moving colleagues to where the greatest demand is so we can help our customers even more quickly," the spokesperson added.

While the branch remains closed on Thursdays, customers have various alternatives for their banking needs. These include using the Lloyds Bank mobile app, online banking, or contacting the bank via phone.
