Knights Fish Restaurant in Glastonbury has been crowned Restaurant of the Year at the prestigious National Fish and Chip Awards.

This accolade highlights the establishment's commitment to quality and places it at the forefront of the industry.

The awards ceremony, hosted by comedian Rob Beckett, celebrated the crème de la crème of fish and chip shops both nationally and, for the first time, internationally. Amidst stiff competition and a rigorous evaluation process that included interviews, skills tests, and mystery visits, Knights Fish Restaurant emerged victorious, showcasing its team's dedication and hard work.

A spokesperson for the restaurant said: "We honestly can't thank our wonderful team and you, our long-serving, fish and chip-loving customers, enough! "From the bottom of our hearts we thank you! We look forward to serving you in the fish and chip restaurant of the year 2024!"

This year's event, held in high esteem by industry professionals and sponsored by the Norwegian Seafood Council, saw a gathering of business owners, industry partners, and sponsors, all united in their passion for this quintessentially British dish. The awards recognise culinary excellence and sustainable practices within the sector, an area where Knights Fish Restaurant has evidently excelled.

Speaking about the event, awards organiser and President of the National Federation of Fish Friers Andrew Crook says: "The National Fish and Chip Awards 2024 has been a remarkable experience to be part of. Our winners and finalists have put their all into making their fish and chip businesses stand-out for all the right reasons.

"It's no secret that the sector has been hit hard by economic hardship, yet we have seen firsthand how chippies up and down the country, and overseas, are thinking fast on their feet to defy the odds without compromising on ethical standpoints, quality and most importantly, great tasting fish and chips.

"We are bursting with pride for our winners and other contenders. It's a privilege to be able to support and encourage them further and they should all be proud of what they've achieved. Fish and chip teams rarely have a moment to pause but we hope everyone takes some time to enjoy the celebrations ahead of getting back to what they do best."
