Jobs in Street and Glastonbury: Spaghetti, spreadsheets and school lunches
By Laura Linham 26th Sep 2025
Whether you're after a part-time pitstop or a full-blown career change, the local job market has a bit of everything right now. From slinging pasta in Street to overseeing finances in the Abbey, it's a week of unlikely combinations. And yes, there' are still roles going that don't involve deep-frying anything—just.
Catering Corner (aka: all roads lead to Prezzo)
Prezzo Italian is clearly on a recruitment spree, and if you've ever dreamed of joining the ranks of carbonara connoisseurs, now's your time. They need a Kitchen Assistant (part-time, cleaning and prepping), a Line Chef (£12.50–£13/hour), a Sous Chef (£13.50–£14.50/hour), and a Restaurant Supervisor to keep the whole operation on track (part-time, with tips and commission). If you like your food hot and your service fast, this is your buffet.

There's also a Head Chef and Sous Chef role going at an unnamed private education site. Permanent, full-time, and apparently with a work-life balance, which feels rarer than truffle oil in a school canteen.
School Bells & Support Roles
Brookside Academy needs a Midday Supervisor for just under nine hours a week. If you enjoy the outdoors, herding children, and being told someone "looked at me funny", it's ideal. Meanwhile, there's a Learning Support Assistant role working one-on-one with a student with SEN, and a QTS Supply Teacher vacancy for the more flexible-minded educators among us.
Households & Home Improvements
A Cleaner is needed for a large family home in Glastonbury. It's permanent, experienced-only, and three full days a week minimum—less of a feather duster, more of a logistical operation. Meanwhile, TWC Home Improvements are looking for an Assistant Window & Door Fitter. It's an entry-level gig with on-the-job training, so if you've always fancied a trade but haven't known where to start, here's your wedge in.

Behind the Scenes (but Very Much in Charge)
Glastonbury Abbey is on the hunt for a new Head of Finance and Company Secretary. It's a big role, covering governance, HR, and all the monetary bits that keep the place ticking. Probably not one for the numerically faint of heart.
And Finally...
You could become a Driving Instructor, if you've held your licence for at least two and a half years and have the patience of a saint. Think of all the roundabouts you'll conquer. The income potential's decent after training, too.
Check Glastonbury Nub News jobs board for more local roles, and remember: even the weirdest weeks bring work. Good luck out there.
In Glastonbury & Street news this week:
- Election triggered in Street following councillor's death — voters will head to the polls in October
- Motown & Soul night to take over The Loft next month — disco, dressing up, and dancing are encouraged
It's a full‑on week of local culture, music and making — whether you're after a singalong, a debate, a disco or a drum circle, it's all right here.
