A care assessor who works for a Glastonbury company is running a marathon next month to raise money for the National Autistic Society.

Jayne Moxham had planned to run the London Marathon in aid of the charity, but as it was cancelled she will now be running the 26.2 miles closer to home.

The work carried out by the National Autistic Society is very important to her, as she has one family member who is autistic and another who is awaiting a diagnosis.

Jayne cannot praise the charity enough, as it was not only responsible for the introduction of Autism Hour in shops but is now working with Autism Dogs, which provide assistance to those on the autistic spectrum.

Jayne has worked at Glastonbury firm Candlelight Care for 12 years, beginning as a care and support worker before being promoted to the role of care assessor, and only took up running as a hobby 18 months ago.

She had always wanted to run a marathon, but has not had the belief that she could do it until now.

Deborah Puxty, operations manager at Candlelight Care, said: "We are all very proud of Jayne.

"As a company which supports vulnerable people, we are keen to support her in any way we can."

Candlelight Care is a family-run company offering homecare and live-in care services in Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire and East Sussex.

With a head office in Glastonbury, it has been caring for people of all ages in their own homes for more than 30 years and its services are rated Good by the Care Quality Commission.

If you wish to sponsor Jayne you can do so here.
