Hospitality Heroes: Enhancements made at Coig Deug B&B in Glastonbury to enable social distancing

Welcome to our Hospitality Heroes series on Glastonbury Nub News.

We will be providing you with a profile of a number of fantastic hospitality venues ahead of their reopening in April and May.

The industry has been hit particularly hard with hospitality venues, pubs and restaurants only open for four out of the last 12 months.

Today here is everything you need to know about Coig Deug Bed and Breakfast.

Situated Helyar Close on the western side of town, Coig Deug is run by Kath Watson, who is also a pet bereavement counsellor, and she has been putting alterations in place over the last few months to make sure that guests can be confident of a Covid-safe stay.

Kath told Glastonbury Nub News: "The main alteration I have made in order to make my B&B Covid safe is to create a guest breakfast area or kitchenette.

"This is a whole new area where guests have their own sink, fridge, table, stools, kettle and toaster where they can be completely separate, and eat in there as well if they like. Of course, they can eat in the dining room instead if they prefer.

"Either way, even if I am in my kitchen we still have more than two metres' distance between us. I have a separate door into my kitchen so there is no cross over.

"Guests have their own front door and a place to wash their hands on arrival, masks are available if they wish to use them, and there is also a space to leave outdoor clothing such as jackets and footwear."
