The fire service has saved a horse stuck in a water-filled ditch in Totney Road, in Wedmore.

Fire control sent one fire engine, one rescue tender from Glastonbury and the specialist rescue team from Bridgwater to help the animal at around midday (August 15).

Once the crew got in attendance they liaised with the owner on scene and started to formulate a rescue plan using strops and specialist rescue equipment.

The horse was released and is now safe and back with its owner after being checked over by a vet.
