Glastonbury-based Candlelight Homecare has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer as part of its plans to strengthen leadership and prepare for the evolving challenges in the social care sector.

Ken Marshall, who previously served as the organisation's Financial Controller and Commercial & Strategic Manager, stepped into the CEO role on 1 July. At the same time, James Catley-Day, who has served as Managing Director, became the company's Chairman.

The changes are designed to support the company's long-term strategy and help separate day-to-day operations from wider planning and governance.

Ken Marshall brings four decades of experience across a range of industries, including roles involving cross-sector collaboration and public sector partnerships. His appointment comes at a time when the care sector continues to face both pressures and potential reform.

James Catley-Day said: "I am delighted that Ken has accepted the role of Chief Executive Officer. This move allows us to establish a strengthened leadership structure—one that separates strategic oversight from operational delivery, supporting long-term sustainability and growth. I look forward to working with him in the next phase of Candlelight Homecare's success."

Candlelight Homecare provides homecare and live-in care services across Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and East Sussex. The family-run business, based in Glastonbury, has been operating for more than 35 years and is rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission.
