Glastonbury's iconic May Fayre and Procession, hosted by the Glastonbury Dragons, will be returning on Sunday 30 April 2023. This highly anticipated event will feature Dragon and May themed arts and crafts, face painting, and refreshments by Glastonbury County Market.
Please note that entrance to the May Fayre in Glastonbury Abbey Abbots Kitchen Field is through the double gates on Magdalene Street, opposite St Mary's Church, and not through the main Abbey Entrance. The May Fayre is free, and dogs are welcome but need to be on a short lead and attached to their owner at all times.
The day's activities will begin at 10:00am when the Glastonbury Dragons May Fayre opens. Visitors can expect to see performances from the Dragon Drummers, Enigma, SomerStep, and Glastonbury Border Morris. Additionally, Dragon Legs will assemble in Glastonbury Abbey Abbots Kitchen Field at 1:00pm.
At 1:45pm, the Glastonbury Dragons will emerge, and the Battle of the Season will commence in the town centre. The procession will then make its way to The Fairfield on the slopes of Glastonbury Tor. Visitors can expect to see the Glastonbury Dragons arrive on The Fairfield at 2:45pm, followed by the Glastonbury Dragons May Eve Ceremony in the Fairfield Blossom Circle at 3:00pm.
The day's performances will continue until 5:00pm, with highlights including Enigma Border Morris, SomerStep Musicians and Step Dancers, and Glastonbury Dragon Drummers and the Pentacle Drummers.
Please note that timings are for guidance and run on 'Glastonbury Time' - while the intention is to keep as closely as possible to the timings given, things sometimes delay or take a little longer or quicker than planned on the day.
