The future of Glastonbury's iconic Zig Zag Building hangs in the balance as the public inquiry into its fate enters its final day tomorrow.

The Bauhaus-style structure, known for its role as a hub for exhibitions, performances, and community gatherings, faces critical decisions regarding its ongoing planning dispute.

The Local Planning Authority (LPA) had previously issued two Planning Enforcement Notices in September 2023, citing breaches of planning control at the site on Morland Road, Northover.

These notices addressed concerns over unauthorised mixed land usage and substandard living conditions, demanding the cessation of mixed usage and the removal of caravans, steel containers, and other items.

In response, the landowner appealed for a public inquiry, which has been conducted over four days at the Council Offices in Shepton Mallet.

As the inquiry concludes tomorrow, key arguments from both sides will be heard, with the Planning Inspectorate set to make a decision that could reshape the future of this local landmark.
