As the chill of December wraps around Glastonbury, the town gears up for a weekend packed with events that promise to sprinkle a bit of magic over your pre-Christmas hustle.

From artsy fairs to spirited concerts, there's something for everyone in this weekend's lineup.

This article and newsletter are generously sponsored by The King Arthur, Glastonbury's liveliest pub and live music venue, which offers a mix of arts, music, and community spirit.

Starting Friday, The King Arthur sets the tone with 'Reawaken,' a band known for their heavy, high-powered rock that promises to energise and uplift. It's the perfect way to kick off a weekend of celebrations and set your spirits soaring.

On Saturday, the tempo shifts to punk rock with a night featuring Split Dogs, Police, Virus, and Space Cadets. Expect a night of electrifying performances with you nodding your mohawk and maybe even pogoing along.

Sunday evening mellows out with 'Bowie and a Little Bush,' a talented duo bringing the iconic music of David Bowie and Kate Bush to life. It's a fitting end to a weekend brimming with varied musical treats, offering something for every taste.

Elsewhere, kickstarting the weekend on 16th December, the Winter Solstice Arts, Crafts & Holistic Fayre opens at 10:00 AM at The Assembly Rooms on High Street. Here, local artisans will showcase their creative flair, offering a unique opportunity to pick up handcrafted gifts and holistic treats, just in time for the festive season.

Simultaneously, St Edmund's Repair Café, hosted at St Edmund's Community Hall from 10:00 to 12:00, offers a sustainable twist to the weekend. Pop in with your beloved but broken items and give them a new lease of life, embracing the spirit of repair and reuse.

For those with a penchant for all things retro and handmade, the Craft and Vintage fair at the Town Hall from 10:30 to 16:30, is the place to be. It's a treasure trove of unique finds and charming vintage pieces, perfect for those last-minute Christmas gifts.

Art enthusiasts can indulge in a thought-provoking session at Heart of The Tribe Gallery at 14:00, where the ART TALKS series presents "Nothing is what it seems to be." It promises to be an hour of engaging discussion and artistic exploration.

As the evening sets in, The George & Pilgrims Hotel hosts 'Christmas Messages from Spirit' from 18:30 to 20:30. This event offers an intriguing journey into spiritual communication, providing comfort and festive cheer in equal measure.

The musical highlight of the day is the Glastonbury Christmas Concert at St John the Baptist's Church, starting at 19:30. Immerse yourself in the festive spirit with beautiful carols and seasonal music in the heart of Glastonbury.

For those looking to extend their evening, head over to The Riflemans Arms at 21:00 to enjoy live music by Jacobsen Butler, setting the perfect tone for a relaxed Saturday night.

On Sunday, 17th December, the Somerset Rural Life Museum becomes a winter wonderland as Santa visits from 10:10 to 10:20. It's a brief but magical moment for the little ones to meet Santa in a historic setting.

For the more athletically inclined, the Baltonsborough Christmas Pudding 5 Mile race kicks off at 11:00 from the Baltonsborough Village Hall. It's a fun way to stay active and perhaps work off some of those mince pies!

Wrapping up the weekend is the Wick Carnival Club's Christmas Bingo at the Town Hall from 18:00. It's a perfect way to wind down the weekend with a bit of fun, and who knows, you might just get lucky!
