Glastonbury's Mural Trail has welcomed new artworks, injecting fresh bursts of creativity and colour into its already vibrant streets.

Leading the charge in this artistic renaissance is Star Child, a Glastonbury business which has enlisted the acclaimed talents of Inkie and Cheba to reimagine the Star Child mural between Feversham Lane and Benedict Street.

Originating in 2016, this masterpiece is transforming just in time for the 5th-anniversary celebrations of the Mural Trail.

But the creative journey doesn't end there - Star Child has taken the project to new heights by commissioning international artist Xenz to adorn the entire frontage of their Benedict Street building with an awe-inspiring mural inspired by the natural world under the moon's glow.

Adding to Glastonbury's burgeoning artistic landscape is the unveiling of a striking new mural titled 'Dahlias' at Heart of The Tribe.

This masterpiece, commissioned by gallery owner Julian Clark, comes to life through the brushstrokes of renowned local artist Jon Minshull. Celebrating the beauty of nature and the community spirit of Glastonbury, the 'Dahlias' mural stands tall at the top of the high street.

The inception of the Glastonbury Mural Trail can be traced back to Jim and Caroline of the Pilgrim Information Centre, who envisioned a list of murals for visitors to explore.

This vision found its wings when Gerard Tucker, the Town Clerk, collaborated with local artist Kim Von Coels proposing the Mural Trail as Somerset Art Weeks' 'Outside Gallery' in 2019.

With the Town Council's blessing, Kim embarked on a mission to commission new murals across Glastonbury. The town rallied behind the initiative, with artists worldwide joining forces with local individuals and businesses to sponsor and create these magnificent artworks.

Since its inception, the Mural Trail has become a beacon of creativity, drawing visitors from far and wide to marvel at Glastonbury's evolving artistic landscape. The trail's success has even inspired other towns, with inquiries pouring in from Shepton Mallet and beyond, eager to embark on their own mural adventures.

As the Mural Trail celebrates its 5-year anniversary on September 19th, visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the town's artistic legacy. With over 50 public artworks to explore, the trail offers a unique opportunity to discover Glastonbury's rich tapestry of creativity and cultural heritage. Don't miss the anniversary exhibition at the Heart of The Tribe Gallery from September 12th to October 19th, where the Mural Trail and its talented artists will take centre stage.
