A team of volunteers from Melhuish and Saunders visited the Mind in Somerset base in Shepton Mallet on Saturday (August 13).

The volunteers from the Glastonbury building contractors met with one of the Mind in Somerset's trustees – Dr Chris Norris – and stripped old plasterboard from the charity's dilapidated old shed to assess the building.

Mind are hoping to convert it into a safe and useable space – a community space for anyone affected by or vulnerable to mental illness, improving their quality of life and wellbeing.

Darryl Mitchard, Managing Director at Melhuish and Saunders, and one of the team of volunteers, said: "We wanted to see how sound the structure was and to be able to give costs to Mind in Somerset to see if its viable to fix the existing shed, or if they would need to consider alternative options. We will look to get the next steps for the charity in the next couple of weeks."
