Glastonbury Town Council steps in after swastikas and racist slur sprayed near infant school

Glastonbury Town Council has stepped in after swastikas and a racial slur were spray-painted on a public toilet block just yards from an infant school.
The vile graffiti appeared on Tuesday evening on the wall of the toilet building in St John's Car Park. It was spotted by a member of the public shortly after 7pm, not far from St John's Infant School.
Witnesses reported seeing a group of teenagers hanging around the area at the time.
The town council acted quickly to remove the offensive messages after the incident was reported, condemning the graffiti and working to ensure it was cleaned up without delay.
The slogans included a swastika and a racial slur, which police are treating as a suspected hate crime.
Avon and Somerset Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
"This sort of behaviour has no place in our community," a police spokesperson said. "We're asking anyone with information to come forward."
The appearance of hate symbols so close to a primary school has sparked concern among local residents, with calls for greater awareness and early intervention for young people involved in extremist messaging.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting reference number GRA68MQ2.
