For those who thought they knew Glastonbury Tor inside out, Norman Parker is set to offer a radically different perspective.

This May, Parker joins the ranks of Shepton Artists for his inaugural exhibition, bringing a project that casts the iconic Somerset landmark in an entirely new light.

Inspired by Hokusai's famed series, "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji," Parker embarked on an ambitious journey to create 100 images of Glastonbury Tor.

His approach, rooted in neo-surrealism, seeks to unearth the beauty in the bizarre, the marvel in the irrational. "I'm drawn to the marvellous and irrational, finding beauty in strange places," Parker explains.

With only three pieces left to reach his centenary goal, Parker's upcoming exhibition with Shepton Artists marks a significant milestone.

"We're thrilled to have inspired Norman to exhibit with us and to witness the completion of his remarkable project," said an event spokesperson.

The exhibition, showcasing a diverse array of artistic talent, will feature works from 10 artists. It is set to be held at Create@no8 and the Art Bank in Shepton Mallet, kicking off with a private viewing at Create@#8 on May 2nd. Alongside Parker, the event will spotlight the creativity of Trisha Mason, Phoebe Brittain, Kirsten Madeira-Revell, Jack Greenwood, Amanda Fowler, Steve Cobbin, Will James, Belinda Ollis-Blackwell, Glenny Thomas, Alan Martar, and Bella Frey.

For those interested in exploring the unique and the unconventional, Parker's take on Glastonbury Tor is an invitation to see the familiar through new eyes. His completion of this extensive project not only adds a fresh chapter to the narrative of the Tor but also celebrates the rich tapestry of artistic talent within Somerset.
