Glastonbury to hold street party to mark the Coronation of King Charles III

The coronation of King Charles is a momentous occasion, and Glastonbury Town Council wants to make sure that the community is part of the celebration.

Glastonbury Town Council has announced plans to hold a community street party and Big Lunch on Sunday 7 May 2023 in honour of the coronation of King Charles.

The event will take place in the High Street.

Everyone is welcome to come along and join in the festivities.

In addition to the street party, there will be a Community Celebration of Volunteers in Glastonbury Abbey during their Summer Open Day on 8 May. This will be an opportunity to recognise and thank all the volunteers who work tirelessly to make Glastonbury a better place to live.

The Glastonbury Town Council is encouraging everyone to get involved in the celebration of the coronation of King Charles. They believe that events like these bring the community together and strengthen the bond between neighbours.

About the coronation of Kings Charles III

King Charles III's coronation will take place on Saturday 6 May 2023 at Westminster Abbey in London.

During the ceremony, the King will be crowned alongside Camilla, the Queen Consort.

There will be an extra bank holiday across the UK on Monday 8 May.

Buckingham Palace has announced various events for the weekend, including a concert and laser light show at Windsor Castle on Sunday 7 May.

Pubs, clubs and bars across England and Wales will be able to stay open for an extra two hours on Friday and Saturday of the coronation weekend.

People are also being invited to hold street parties, and to take part in volunteering projects in their local community, as part of the Big Help Out initiative.
