A man has been charged after a police officer was assaulted during a drug bust in Glastonbury.

The incident happened on Wednesday, 21 January, while officers were on foot patrol in the town. A quantity of class B drugs was recovered and a man was arrested at the scene.

Police say the suspect was taken into custody and later charged with:

• Assaulting an emergency worker
• Obstructing a Section 23 drugs search
• Possession of Class A drugs
• Possession of Class B drugs

He is due to appear at Crown Court.

Officers thanked members of the public who stepped in to check on the welfare of their colleague before backup arrived.
