Glastonbury Abbey Yard and St Dunstan's House Community Health & Wellbeing Centre have been shortlisted for a major regional planning award.

The town centre regeneration project is in the running for Best Project at the Royal Town Planning Institute South West Awards for Planning Excellence 2026.

The awards recognise projects, plans and people helping to shape communities across the South West.

The Glastonbury scheme brings together the transformation of Abbey Yard with the creation of St Dunstan's House Community Health & Wellbeing Centre.

Those behind the project say it has restored historic features while creating a more accessible public space and improved wellbeing facilities for the town.

The work has included a new arrival space for Glastonbury Abbey, improved accessibility, climate-resilient drainage, biodiversity measures and the reuse of historic materials.

Project leaders said the shortlisting reflects the hard work, creativity and partnership working involved in bringing the scheme forward.

They said the recognition is shared with partners, stakeholders and the project team who helped deliver the work for the benefit of Glastonbury.

Glastonbury builders Melhuish and Saunders, who were involved in the project, said: "Congratulations to everyone involved for this award shortlist! A real testament to the hard work, collaboration, and dedication that went into delivering the project. Well done to all, a fantastic achievement."
