Glastonbury firefighters help rescue man who became unwell while up on scaffolding in Cocklake
A man had to to be rescued by Glastonbury firefighters from up on scaffolding in Cocklake yesterday (December 1) after he became unwell.
Just after 12.45pm, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call from the ambulance requesting their assistance with the rescue of a male who had become unwell while up scaffolding in Cocklake and was unable to get himself down.
Fire appliances from Cheddar and Glastonbury, an aerial ladder platform from Bridgwater and specialist rescue teams from Trowbridge and Chippenham were immediately mobilised by Fire Control.
On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed that one male had become unwell and unable to descend the scaffolding.
Crews quickly got to work to transfer the casualty onto a long board and set about a plan to transfer him through a window and back into the property and down the stairs.
The casualty was left in the care of the ambulance service and transferred to hospital.
