Firefighters from Glastonbury helped free three people who were trapped following a multi-vehicle crash on the A372 last night (October 7).

Just after 10pm, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue control mobilised three fire engines and a heavy rescue unit to a report of a three-vehicle road traffic collision on the A372 near Middlezoy with possible multiple people trapped.

On arrival crews, who were mobilised from Glastonbury and Bridgwater, confirmed there were three vehicles involved and there were people trapped in two cars.

Three casualties were released by fire and ambulance personnel using three hydraulic cutting equipment, stabilisation equipment and small tools.

In total there were five casualties who were taken to hospital via road and air ambulance.
