Glastonbury firefighters were among three crews who tackled a fire at a bungalow in Street this afternoon (September 23).

Just after 2.30pm, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue control received a call to a property in Street reporting a fire in the kitchen.

Fire engines from Street, Glastonbury, and Somerton were quickly mobilised to the scene. On arrival, crews confirmed a fire in the kitchen of a bungalow which had been evacuated by the occupant.

Crews used four breathing apparatus, a carbon dioxide extinguisher, a thermal imaging camera, a hose reel jet, a safety jet, small tools and a positive pressure ventilation fan to tackle the fire.

The kitchen sustained 20 per cent fire damage and the rest of the property sustained 100 per cent smoke damage. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
