A drive-thru coffee shop, MOT centre and retail unit could soon spring up on the site of a disused garage in Glastonbury.
A full planning application has been lodged to redevelop the former Glastonbury Motor Repairs plot on Dyehouse Lane, right next to the A39 Beckery Roundabout.
The 1.16-acre site has stood empty since earlier this year but could now be transformed into a trio of single-storey buildings:
- A 2,500sqft drive-thru restaurant or café
- A 1,800sqft commercial unit
- A 4,200sqft autocentre with MOT testing and vehicle servicing
The scheme, from developer Rex Land (Alpha) Ltd, also includes 40 parking spaces, eight electric vehicle bays, 10 cycle stands, outdoor seating and landscaping.
A new access road from Dyehouse Lane is proposed, along with improved pedestrian links, low-level timber rail fencing and new hedgerows. Developers say the layout is designed to stop traffic backing onto the roundabout and to keep service vehicles moving safely on-site.

Planning documents say the build will cut back hardstanding, improve biodiversity, and boost jobs in the area. Sustainability features include air source heat pumps, high-performance glazing and solar-ready roofs.
Somerset Council will decide the application in the coming weeks.
