Glastonbury delivery driver trapped by gust of wind, rescued by "three wonderful angels"

On the afternoon of September 18, Gavin Hucks, a delivery driver servicing Glastonbury and its surrounding areas, found himself in an unusual predicament.

A sudden gust of wind slammed the rear door of his van shut as he was organising parcels in the back, trapping him inside. Despite multiple attempts to free himself, including trying the side door, he could not exit the vehicle.

The van had an emergency release mechanism, but the door had not latched properly, rendering this safety feature ineffective.

A passerby heard his calls for help and inquired whether the fire brigade should be notified. With some embarrassment, Gavin acknowledged that this might indeed be necessary.

However, a quick-thinking manoeuvre saw him forcing a small gap in the door, allowing him to pass his security key fob to the women outside. Guided by his instructions, they successfully released him from his vehicular confinement.

He expressed his gratitude upon his release: "As I stumbled out into fresh air, I saw three wonderful angels staring back at me."

Their timely intervention secured his freedom and allowed him to complete 112 successful deliveries that day.

Gavin is now looking to identify these 'wonderful angels' to offer his heartfelt thanks, underscoring Glastonbury's strong sense of community spirit.

"I love the community feel and support in this area, which always fills me with joy," he said.
