Glastonbury Town Council has announced that the town's Citizen of the Year 2021 has been awarded to Tanya Moore.

Tanya is a founder of the Glastonbury Coronavirus Support Network and has given many hundreds of hours during the past year to helping others.

The Mayor of Glastonbury Cllr Jon Cousins is photographed here with Tanya being awarded her certificate.

Cllr Cousins informed that there were many people nominated this year and it was incredibly difficult to identify one person above others. He thanked Tanya for her drive, enthusiasm and community spirit.

Back in March 2020 Tanya, along with fellow Glastonbury residents Kama McKenzie and Mark Swann, mobilised an army of volunteer helpers to meet the needs of the community in the coronavirus crisis.

Since then, the Glastonbury Coronavirus Support Network has been providing a vital service helping those in need, including collecting shopping or medicine for the vulnerable, or just being at the other end of a phone line for those who needed a chat.
