Latest figures have revealed the exact number of coronavirus-related deaths in the Glastonbury area.

The figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) show deaths at a local level for people who have contracted Covid-19.

The good news is that the main part of Glastonbury town has still not yet seen a coronavirus-related death.

However, there has been one death in the area the ONS describes are Glastonbury West and Street South, which also includes villages such as Meare and Walton.

The statistics show that three people died in the villages north of Glastonbury, such as Polsham, Godney and Coxley, and there have been two deaths in the main part of Street village.

Deaths are reported by postcode area, which is why exact places are not revealed for the villages, though the ONS also said that the information with small numbers in rural areas has been kept vague for confidentiality reasons.

The statistics listed are for deaths where Covid-19 was the underlying cause or was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributory factor, between March 1 and May 31.
