A care worker from Glastonbury has retired after 27 years supporting vulnerable people in the town.

In 1998 the Euro was introduced, 'Titanic' was taking over cinema screens, and Shirley Morse began her care career at Candlelight Homecare.

After helping hundreds of clients in the intervening years, she hung up her tunic and retired on 7th October.

Shirley was presented with flowers and gifts from her colleagues, and said, "during my 27 years with Candlelight Homecare, I've met some wonderful people and made lifelong friends with clients and their families. I will miss everyone."

Tracy Weare, Registered Manager of Candlelight Homecare in Glastonbury, said, "Shirley is one of our longest-serving staff and her knowledge and experience have been invaluable, both to myself and her colleagues. Having staff with many years of service enables us to provide consistent care to our clients, which they and their families rely upon. Thank you, Shirley, for your loyalty and friendship."
