Sarah Dyke has been reselected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Glastonbury and Somerton at the next general election, pledging to continue campaigning on NHS access, flooding and the cost of living.

Local party members celebrated her reselection at Tricky Cider near Langport. The MP said she would keep pressing for support for farmers and rural communities.

Dyke, the Liberal Democrats' rural affairs spokesperson and a member of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee, thanked members for their backing.

She said: "Thank you so much to all our members for putting their faith in me once again. It is the greatest privilege of my life to represent Glastonbury and Somerton.

"I've never taken a single vote for granted, and I never will. I'll keep fighting until everyone here can see an NHS dentist and get a GP appointment when they need one. I'll keep standing up for families and pensioners facing soaring bills, protecting homes and farms from flooding, backing our farmers and making sure rural areas are never an afterthought in Westminster.

"The choice at the next election is clear. Reform offer anger, not answers: big promises and loud slogans from people who don't know our hamlets, villages or market towns. The Liberal Democrats are the antidote to Reform. We offer hard work, local roots and real results. Somerset deserves an MP who rolls up her sleeves and gets things done, and that's exactly what I'll keep doing."

The celebration included cider tasting, music and dancing, with cheese from Somerset producers Wyke Farms, Barbers and Longmans. The local party advertised the event for Saturday, 26 September.

Dyke added: "It was wonderful to mark the occasion with local cider, cheese, music and dancing, celebrating some of the very best of what our part of Somerset has to offer."
