Glastonbury Abbey is set to welcome families more affordably by introducing free child memberships included in their Family Membership options.

This significant change is part of the Abbey's efforts to make the historic site more accessible to families and encourage younger generations to explore its rich heritage.

Under the new membership structure, a Family Membership with one adult will be priced at £42 online, the same as an Adult Membership, while a Family Membership with two adults will cost £68 online, equivalent to a Joint Adult Membership. This pricing strategy means that families can enjoy the Abbey all year round without incurring additional costs for their children. The free membership is available for children aged between 5 and 15 years, with those under 5 not requiring a membership.

Alongside the introduction of free child memberships, Glastonbury Abbey is also revising its general membership pricing. From February, there will be an increase of £10 for memberships purchased or renewed in person at the Ticket Office, a change that doesn't apply to the pay-monthly membership. However, to encourage the continued shift towards digital, the Abbey is keeping the price for online membership purchases and renewals the same as in 2023.

The Abbey has observed a growing preference for online transactions over recent years and aims to streamline its services accordingly. For members who prefer the traditional in-person method, the option to switch to pay-monthly or automatic annual renewal is available at the current prices.

For current members whose memberships expire after the 1st of February, these changes will come into effect only at the time of their next renewal. They will receive a notification email with a renewal link, ensuring their access to the Abbey remains seamless.

For more details on the new membership structure or any related queries, Glastonbury Abbey encourages interested individuals to contact their membership team via email at [email protected] or to visit the Abbey's website.
