Glastonbury Abbey has been named as a finalist in the Somerset Business Awards 2024, specifically in the Best Use of Digital Technology category, following an impressive site visit from the award's judges.

The historic site earned this recognition due to its innovative Glastonbury Stories app, an augmented reality (AR) experience that transports visitors through the ancient abbey ruins.

This app, designed to engage users of all ages, features detailed reconstructions of the abbey's structures, showcases artefacts found during excavations, and brings to life the stories of individuals from the abbey's medieval past.

The winners will be unveiled at the grand finale of the Somerset Business Awards, scheduled to take place at the Winter Gardens in Weston-Super-Mare on 22nd March 2024. Glastonbury Abbey stands as one of three contenders in its category.
