A garage will be rebuilt at a home in Glastonbury after planning approval was granted by Mendip District Council.

A planning application for the building of a single garage at 63 Hill Head, Glastonbury, had been submitted by Paul Darnell.

The applicant is the new owner of the property and they wish to reinstate the garage that was built in 2017 and which was subsequently removed.

Glastonbury Town Council objected to the plans, on the grounds of highway safety, over-development in the area, the building being in close proximity of a special landscape feature, and the lack of adequate turning space within the site for vehicles.

However, Mendip disagreed and have granted permission, saying the height, scale, massing and siting of the garage matches that of the scheme when it was first approved, so is not considered to result in any additional harm from that already given approval.

One planning application in the Glastonbury area has been submitted to Mendip District Council this week:

Erection of two storey side extension at Old Farm, Southwood Lane, Baltonsborough, has been applied for by Mr and Mrs S Davis.
