Avid quizzers put their knowledge to the test at the annual Brains of Avalon quiz, organised by the Glastonbury and Street Lions Club, with Forum emerging victorious in a closely contested final.

Thirteen teams of four competed at Glastonbury Town Hall for the coveted John Bromfield Trophy, which was first presented to the club by the former Glastonbury mayor. Now in its 41st year, the quiz saw competitors tackle 15 rounds of wide-ranging questions, compiled by club member Mike Edmunds. Chris Ford took on the role of question master for the evening, keeping the event running smoothly.

As always, the evening was both sociable and competitive, with participants enjoying the friendly rivalry. The event raised over £400, with a raffle contributing more than £150 thanks to the generosity of those taking part and local businesses who donated prizes.

After a tense battle, Forum reclaimed the title, while Tor First Class secured second place following a tie-break. Meare Mountain Rescue took third place.

A Lions Club spokesperson said: "We want to thank all those who took part and congratulations to Forum for regaining the trophy. The club also thanks the staff at the Town Hall for their help and the three key Lions during the evening – Mike the question setter, Chris the question master and Beckie who liaised with the teams on their entries."

The next Brains of Avalon quiz will take place at Glastonbury Town Hall on Friday, 30 January 2026.
