Fire in Industrial Unit at Somertonfield Road, Somerton

Date: 21.02.2019Time: 22:16Location: Somertonfield Road, SomertonThe Fire Service were called to a report of a fire at the above location.  Fire engines from Somerton, Glastonbury and Martock were initially sent to this incident, also an environmental protection unit from Taunton, a water carrier from Yeovil and supporting Officers.  On arrival crews requested a further five fire engines and an aerial ladder platform which were sent from Martock, Street and Yeovil, supporting appliances and Officers also attended.This is an industrial unit measuring 60m x 60m steel frame portal and concrete construction used as a waste transfer station.  Contents within building fully involved in fire.  Externally individual skips also involved in fire.  Crews at work extinguishing with breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and main jets.  Further details to follow ..
