Residents from a block of flats in Glastonbury were evacuated by firefighters yesterday after a pan left on top of a stove triggered a fire alarm.

Firefighters arrived at Old Market Court at 12.01pm yesterday and put out the small fire - which had not spread beyond the cooker - and ventilate the smoke-logged property.

According to Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, crews followed up by giving fire safety advice to occupants of the building.

A spokesperson confirmed that three appliances were sent out, from Shepton Mallet, Somerton and Wells.
